Arnie Ruhlig, age 85, of Almont, MI died Friday, December 31, 2021 at home in Almont. Arnold Elmer Ruhlig was born September 8, 1936 in Dearborn, MI. He was the son of the late Elmer and the late Frieda (Boike) Ruhlig. Arnie grew up in Taylor, MI.

He was a graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte, MI, Class of 1954.

Arnie served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Korean peace keeping war zone from 1959 to 1961.

He married Patricia Herr on September 23, 1961 in Taylor, MI. They moved to Almont, MI and have lived there since 1961. Arnie started farming right out of high school, first delivering to the Western Market from Taylor area and then later from Almont, delivering produce to the Eastern Market in Detroit after Western Market closed. He retired from Ruhlig Vegetable Farms in Almont in 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ruhlig; daughter, Susan (Ken) Lilly of Macomb, MI; his son, Richard (Kimberly) Ruhlig of Almont, MI; his sisters, Karen (Barney) Brinninstool, Iva Jean (Fred) Timmons and Sandra (Ray) Schmuker; brothers, Dale (Doris) Ruhlig and Jerry (Amy) Ruhlig; his grandchildren, Erynn, Remi, Paige, Alyssa and Jade; and his great-grandchildren, Kate and Korey.

Arnie was preceded in death by his grandson, Brody, in 2017.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Fellowship Church, 7525 32 Mile Rd., Bruce Township, MI. Pastor Eric Majeski, pastor of Grace Lutheran Fellowship Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Ferguson Cemetery, Almont.

The family will be available for visitation 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI and from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Fellowship Church.
