Former Almont graduate, Byron McCowen, earned weight class champion honors at the U.S. Powerlifters Winter Smash in Nevada.
ALMONT — Byron McCowen, a 1999 graduate of Almont High School, earned the distinction of weight class champion at the United States Powerlifters Winter Smash competition on Saturday, December 10.
McCowen won the 100kg weight class.
His pacesetting performance included a squat lift of 507.1 pounds; a bench press of 369.3 pounds; and a deadlift of 622.8 pounds.
His bench press, deadlift and total are state records for his weight class in the state of Nevada.
