James Carpenter of Davison, formerly of Capac and Newberry, age 78, passed away on December 2, 2021 at Charter Senior Living of Davison.
James was born in Almont, MI on February 4, 1943, son of the late Harold and Jean (Wallace) Carpenter. He proudly served our country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy as an aircraft mechanic. James retired from General Telephone after many years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman, having spent his entire life hunting, fishing and trapping throughout the state of Michigan.
James is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Jeff (Paula) Leonard of Cement City, Tami (Gregg) Tawney of Belmont, Jodi (Mark) Carroll of Grand Blanc and Jennifer (Bryan) LePla of Sandwich, NH; grandchildren, Kevin (Emily) Leonard, Aaron (Jordyn) Leonard, Brandon (Amanda) LePla, Liz (Oliver) Carpenter, Zach (Emma) Carroll, Allison (James) DeCosemo, Jacob Carroll and Mordekai Tawney; great-granddaughter, Anne Lorraine Leonard; two sisters-in-law; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including their Carla Blvd. social group.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents.
The family would like to thank the staff at Charter Senior Living in Davison for their compassion and loving care for James. They would also like to thank Heartland Hospice for their care.
Cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison MI, 48423. Rev. Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. Following the service, Inurnment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Charter Senior Living of Davison.
