Ronald “Ron” Smith, age 78, of Metamora, MI died Saturday, November 13, 2021 at St. Joseph Mercy – Oakland of Pontiac, MI. Ronald Eugene Smith was born February 11, 1943.
He was employed as an engineer by General Motors.
Ron was very involved with ministry at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden, MI. He participated in prayer meeting at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City, MI and most recently attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lapeer, MI.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Smith; aunts, Martha Ponce, Ann Gillary and Stephanie Wulff; and his grandparents, John and Anna Ponce.
The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Church, 814 W. Nepessing, Lapeer, MI. Reverend Fr. Brian Hurley will officiate. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery, 621 W. Long Lake Road, Troy, MI.
Visitation will take place from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, November 17 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. A rosary will take place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, November 17.
