Marjorie “Marge” Cameron, age 94, recently of Dryden, MI (formerly of Detroit, MI), died Monday, November 8, 2021 at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family. Marjorie Elaine Mayo was born May 8, 1927 in Detroit, MI. She was the daughter of the late Marvin and the late Pauline (Rideout) Mayo. Marge grew up in Detroit, MI. She was a graduate of Cooley High School. After high school, Marge attended Wayne School of Nursing (Wayne State University) where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She was in the first graduating class at Wayne School of Nursing. She married Thomas Cameron on June 17, 1950 in Detroit, MI. Marge and Thomas lived most of their married life in Detroit, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, on October 19, 2006. Marge lived at Presbyterian Village of Westland for a period of time and helped in the library there.
She was employed as a registered nurse by Detroit Receiving Hospital for many years. Marge then worked for Detroit Rehab Center for the closed head injuries department. Marge and her husband, Thomas, were founding members of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Dearborn, MI. She was very involved in church, participating in the Women’s Circle and the Church Session (Lay Leadership). Marge was a prolific reader and loved all variations of literature.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne (Stanley) Louise Roszczewski of Dryden, MI; sons, Thomas (Sharon) Cameron of Berkley, MI, Alan (Florita) Cameron of Ypsilanti, MI and William (Kathryn) Cameron of Centerville, OH; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Cameron; and her parents, Marvin and Pauline Mayo.
Interment took place Friday, November 12, 2021 at Roseland Cemetery, 29001 Woodward Avenue, Berkley, MI.
The memorial service was held Saturday, November 13, 2021 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 26701 Joy Road, Dearborn, MI
