Hunter Hospitality House cordially invites the public to celebrate their 10th anniversary on December 7 at an open house at the Hunter Hospitality Family House at 1015 Vanderburgh Place in Port Huron from 3 to 5 p.m. The Blue Water Chamber of Commerce will lead a short ceremony during the open house on the front porch at 4 p.m.

Hunter Hospitality House was founded in memory of Hunter Eldon Willard, the late infant son of co-founders Jeff and Tracy Willard. The organization provides free lodging for those with hospitalized loved ones, as well as pre-operative individuals from out of town and outpatients in cancer treatment. They opened the first bed and breakfast style home near McLaren Port Huron on December 7, 2011, which would have been Hunter’s 20th birthday.

In 2013, a second location was opened next to Lake Huron Medical Center. The Hunter Hospitality Family House, specifically for guests with children, opened next door this past summer. Collectively, over 2,000 registrations have taken place at the three homes.
Any donations received at the open house will be used to cover the operating costs of Hunter Hospitality House. Those who attend the open house are encouraged to wear a mask inside the house and to socially distance themselves from others. Hand sanitizers and disposable masks will be available.

The mission of Hunter Hospitality House is to provide a welcoming, relaxing home away from home, steps away from the hospital, for those in need of restoration while their loved ones are patients, or for individuals currently receiving out-patient treatment in need of local lodging. The vision of Hunter Hospitality House is that no one should ever have to be concerned about lodging or amenities while caring for themselves or loved ones during a medical crisis.
