Donna M. Hobbs, a longtime resident of Romeo, passed away Sunday, November 7 at Ascension Providence Hospital in Rochester Hills. She was born October 15, 1937, the daughter of Joseph and Delores (Frey) Schaefer in Detroit. She graduated from Romeo High School in 1955. Donna married her beloved husband, John M. Hobbs, on June 28, 1958 in Romeo. She worked at Dr. White’s office in Romeo for many years as an administrative director. Donna was dedicated to helping those in need in the community and was active in family ministry and Meals on Wheels. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting and reading; but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was known for her kindness to all and will be missed by many.
She is mourned by her beloved children, Michelle Pytleski of Romeo, Joseph (Deborah) of Fairview, John (Barbara) of Washington, Jeffrey (Suzette) of Imlay City, Veronica (Larry) Whitcomb of Romeo, Darryl (Melissa) of Romeo, Deanna (James) Porchik of Okemos, MI, Correne of Romeo; 18 beloved grandchildren; and 12 beloved great-grandchildren. Also surviving, beloved siblings Shirley (Butch) Schmidt of Columbiaville, Joann Poupard of Raleigh Durham, Jim Schaefer of Wisconsin and Paul (Barb) Schaefer of Sterling Heights.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, in 2003; and her son-in-law, Peter Pytleski.
Funeral service at the Muir Funeral Home in Romeo on Tuesday, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Fernandez of Durand Church of God officiating. Burial will be made at Christian Memorial Cemetery.
