Virginia Romero, age 69, of Imlay City, MI died Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at her home. Virginia Catherine Hurt was born April 2, 1952 in Paintsville, KY. She was the daughter of the late Isaac and Louise (Laney) Hurt. Virginia grew up and lived in Kentucky and Michigan. She married Jesus “Jessie” Romero in 1976 in Almont, MI. Virginia and Jessie have lived in the Imlay City, MI area for 20-plus years.

She was a homemaker, raising her family. Virginia liked to sing karaoke, especially Loretta Lynn songs. She enjoyed helping family and friends in need, spending time with her grandchildren and family, thrift store shopping and garage sales, and making cakes for friends. Virginia loved her birds and dogs. She appreciated western movies and Facetime computer visits with friends and family.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Jesus “Jessie” Romero of Imlay City, MI; her mother, Louise Hurt; daughters, Amy Lynn Stevens of Imlay City, MI and Rebecca (Fernando Uribe) Romero of Flint, MI; her sisters, Goldia Vincent of Imlay City, MI, Bessie Cantor of Worthington, OH, Pamela Ables of Lewisburg, TN, Kathy Hurt of VanBuren, IN and Inez Hurt of Marion, IN; and her brothers, Isaac Hurt of Marion, IN and Chauncey Hurt. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brandin Carlyle, Fernando Uribe, Jashua Uribe and Christofer Uribe; and her great-grandson, Winston Carlyle.

She was preceded in death by her father, Isaac Hurt; infant son, Ray Stevens, Jr.; her sister, Joyce Stevens; and just recently, her brother, Chauncey Hurt.

The funeral was held Friday, October 15, 2021 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Interment followed at Capac Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
