Janet Gilmore Schlaud, of Imlay City, MI died Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility at the age of 83. She was surrounded by her adoring family. Janet Lucille Herman was born March 31, 1938 in Detroit, MI. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Eleanore (Gryzbowski) Herman. Janet grew up in Detroit, MI. She was a graduate of St. Hedwig High School in Detroit, Class of 1955. Janet married Donald Edwin Gilmore October 13, 1956. She and Donald were married for 42 years and raised seven children before his death in 1998. She later married Dwight Schlaud of Imlay City who passed in 2019. Janet was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City, MI, San Antonio Catholic Church in Punta Gorda, FL, and a member of the Casa Maria Guild in Imlay City.

Janet is survived by her daughters, Carrie (Michael) Sennett of Redford, MI, Jessica (Tom) Gabbard of Imlay City, MI and Elizabeth (Jason) Martin of West Bloomfield, MI; her sons, David (Jeannine) Gilmore of Northbridge, MA, Donald (Jennifer) Gilmore of Leonard, MI and Gregory Gilmore of Nashua, NH; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandson; and her sister Eleanore (Bill) Havlena.

A memorial service to celebrate her life is being planned for mid-October.

Arrangements for Janet’s cremation were entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.
