Arthur Spies, age 85, of Imlay City, MI died Sunday, September 5, 2021, at his home. Arthur Vern Spies was born December 17, 1935 in Almont, MI. He was the son of the late A.B. and Gladys (Tucker) Spies. Arthur grew up in the Almont area. He was a graduate of Almont High School, Class of 1953. He married Carol Joan Hahn on January 18, 1958 in Romeo, MI.
He proudly served in the United States National Guard. Arthur was self-employed, selling milk wholesale for London’s Dairy in Port Huron for 20 years. He enjoyed working and held many different positions through the years.
Arthur was very involved in the Imlay City community.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Spies; his daughters, Jill (Bob) Briggs of Laingsburg, MI and Julie (Scott) Hancock of Laingsburg, MI; son, Michael (Lori) Spies of Almont, MI; and his grandchildren, Dan Briggs, Laurel Briggs, Nick Hancock, Benjamin Hancock, Hannah Spies and Hunter Spies.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, A.B. and Gladys Spies, and his sister, Marilyn Bause.
A private graveside service will be held at Imlay Township Cemetery, 682 N. Fairgrounds Rd., Imlay City, MI. Deacon David Hoffman, pastor of Family of Christ Lutheran Church, will officiate.
