Program to run from noon-4 at the Selfridge Air Museum
IMLAY CITY — Hometown Rosie the Riveter Bette Kenward is taking her efforts to acknowledge American service members and first responders on the road this weekend.
On Saturday, Sept. 11, Kenward hosts “Operation Thank You” at the Selfridge Military Air Museum from 1-4 p.m.
Kenward heads the local WOW Chapter of the Rosie the Riveter Association.
Kenward noted that the event has special significance because it takes place on the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.
Donations from the event will go toward the funding of Selfridge Air Base’s new Aviation Education Center.
The program includes a military color guard, singing of the national anthem led by members of the WOW Chapter of Rosie the Riveters, guest speakers, and refreshments.
Attendees may participate in a silent auction and raffle for a chance to win framed patriotic art, a gift basket and a commemorative 9/11 American flag.
