Edith Scott Schocke, 87, of Berlin Township, passed away peacefully August 26, 2021, in her lifelong home.

She was born at home, March 14, 1934, the only child of the late Earl and Anna Mae (Kingsland) Scott.

She married Harold Dean Schocke on February 12, 1955, in Lesterville.

Edith raised three children and helped run the family farm with her husband until they retired from dairy farming in 1995. After her grandchildren were older, she began working and became known by many as the “chicken grandma” at the Capac Food Center. Edith also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, playing cards and bowling.

Edith is survived by her two daughters, Judy Ellert of Shelby Township and Janine (Rick) Clay of Capac; six grandchildren, Joyce (Clint DeVooght) Schocke, Gina Schocke, Justin (Megan Johnson) Schocke, Jason (Karen) Ellert, Jonathan (Kelly) Ellert and Jamie (Brandon) Boyd; sixteen great-grandchildren, Nathan, Kensley, Julia, Jared, Skylar, Chloe, Bella Johnson, Fallyn, Amelia and McKinley Schocke, Aidan Sebastian, Avilyn and Jaxen Ellert, and David, Nolan, and Sarah Boyd; as well as many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Schocke in 2018; and her son, Jody in 2011.

The family honors the memory of Edith and invites you to visit and share memories Friday, September 3, 2021, from 12:00 noon – 2 p.m. at Capac United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Lisa Clark will officiate. Arrangements provided by Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac.
