Clare G. Wentworth, 82, of Dryden, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Angela’s House in Imlay City. He was born July 29, 1939 in Almont, the son of Gale and Pauline (Lyons) Wentworth. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961 and was past president of the Dryden Veteran’s Club. He also served as president of the PTA, Dryden Planning Commission and Parish Council.

Clare graduated in 1964 from Oakland University with honors with a B.S. Engineering Degree and began his career as a Project Engineer for Vickers Incorporated then moved to IBM as a Systems Engineer for three years. Following his work there he owned and was President of R&R Services in Marysville, MI until 1970 when he settled into Champion Enterprises. For the first year Clare was in the sales division but quickly moved into General Manager, then to Director of Systems and Procedures. In 1977 Clare became Vice-President, purchasing corporate staff until 1983 when he was named President, Champion Motor Coach. He retired from Thor Industries.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Chris Wentworth of Dryden, Pam (Tony) Butts of South Carolina and Nate (Sue) Wentworth of Imlay City; grandchildren, Ashley, Megan, Eva, Lindsay and Ivy; great-grandchildren, Jack, Nora, Cash, Troy, Grace, Penny, Christian, Selena, Jaden, Aurora, Matthew, Luke and Abigail. Also surviving is one sister, Myrna (Gill) Henderson of Brighton; along with many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held August 27 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Almont with Pastor Patty Hoppenworth of Dryden United Methodist Church officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dryden.
