Some residents report that gas tanks were punctured
IMLAY CITY — Imlay City Police Chief Brett Selby is seeking information regarding a series of gas thefts from vehicles in recent weeks.
Selby said the police department is asking for the public’s assistance in finding the individual or individuals who have been involved in stealing gasoline from parked vehicles.
He noted that those responsible have in some cases caused significant damages to the vehicles.
“These individuals have punctured the gas tanks and then drained or siphoned the gas from several vehicles,” said Selby. “The damages amount to several thousand dollars.”
Selby said the majority of reported incidents of fuel theft and associated damages have taken place on, or in the vicinity of N. Almont Ave., Main St. and W. Fifth St.
He said information leading to the identification of those involved can be provided anonymously by calling the Imlay City Police Dept. at 810-724-2345.
