2021 event underway; runs through Sat.
IMLAY CITY — The 2021 Eastern Michigan State Fair is officially underway but there’s just four days left to get in on the fun—today through Saturday, July 31.
On Monday, the fairgrounds was abuzz with final preparations. The gates officially opened at noon on Tuesday. This year’s event features rides and games from Arnold Amusements, grandstand events, livestock shows, a petting zoo and much more.
The fairground’s midway dome will play host to daily magic shows starting at 1 p.m. and held every hour on the hour.
Neil Sauter will be created balloon sculptures, offering balloon twisting clinics and more.

Look for several performances each day from the Flying Pages Thrill Show and Sea Lion Splash.
Tonight in the grandstands will be the Bull Rodeo. That’s followed by Figure 8 Trailer Racing on Thursday, Bump-N-Run race on Friday and Demolition Derby on Saturday. All events start at 7 p.m.
Stop in the FFA barn where members will host ‘A Living Experience’ to see and interact with farm animals.
Tomorrow, starting at 1 p.m. in the Youth Livestock Auction The sale order is hogs, lambs, beef, feeder calves, goats, dairy baskets, rabbits and poultry.
Also happening tomorrow is Special Needs Day and Veterans Day.
Special Needs Day will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants will be able to stroll the grounds before the gates officially open that day and then enjoy a free lunch provided once again by Imlay City Ford. Unlimited rides will be provided by Arnold Amusements staff.
Thursday is also Veterans Day. From 12-7 p.m., veterans and active duty personnel can enter the fairgrounds for no charge with valid proof of service.
Today, July 28, is the last chance to get discounted fair admission. Enter through the gates before 2 p.m. and admission is just $10. After 2 p.m. the prices goes up to $15 per person.
Daily admission on Thursday is $15 and $20 on Friday and Saturday.
Admission includes parking, grandstand events, carnival rides, all shows and much more.
