CAPAC — X Treme Diamonds 18U softball team, which counts Capac’s Skylar Tesnow among its ranks, claimed a first-place finish at the CMGFL Tournament this past weekend.
Macomb Corners, in Macomb Township. served as the tournament venue.
The team started things off Friday with a 13-9 loss to Macomb Diamonds.
Saturday’s action would see X Treme Diamonds bounce back with a 14-2 win against St. Clair Shores Sharks and fall 7-5 to Team Michigan.
Saturday evening saw bracket play open with an 11-4 victory over Macomb Shock Green.
That was followed Sunday morning with a 10-8 semifinal triumph against Macomb Diamonds.
They then faced St. Clair Shores Sharks next in the title game.
When the final scores were added up, X Treme Diamonds prevailed via a 19-9 count.
Megan Liniarski (Marysville), Alanna Dedenbach (Marysville), Genna Ugorowski (Rochester Adams), Michelle Pankey (Stony Creek), Faith Fite (Marysville), Bella Yeske (Utica Eisenhower), Becca Larson (Port Huron Northern), Ava Wolfe (Utica Eisenhower) and Hannah Fisher (Marysville) joined Tesnow on the championship squad.
