Members of Almont American Legion Post #479 wish to thank the many community members that turned out for the Memorial Day ceremony at Burley Park on Monday, May 31.

Your attendance and continued support for U.S. servicemen and women who sacrificed their lives for our country is gratifying and much appreciated.
It is because of the individuals who gave their lives, and whose names are now etched into memorial stones across our nation; that we remain free to enjoy our abundant freedoms today.

Thank you to Post Chaplain Mark DiPaola for his prayer, and to long-serving Almont Legion members Dick Bowman for laying the memorial wreath, and Joe Cain, whose inspiring words gave testimony to all those who have given their lives for our country.

Thanks also to Almont High School trumpet player, Chantel Herrera, for her heartfelt rendering of TAPS; and to the dedicated post members who offered a traditional gun salute.

Additionally, we wish to acknowledge and thank Gary Boomer and family for the generous donation made on behalf of the late-Howard Boomer, a decorated Almont-bred World War II veteran, who recently passed away at the age of 95.

Sincerely,

—American Legion Post #479,
