Michael J. Konarski, age 81, of Kingston, MI formerly of Romeo, MI passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at McLaren Flint Hospital in Flint, MI.
Son of the late Joseph and Theodosia (Roszczewski) Konarski, Michael was born September 29, 1939. He graduated from Romeo High School. Michael married the love of his life, Kathryn Treadgold, on July 14, 1962 in Imlay City, MI. He worked as a carpenter for Ford Motor Company and was a UAW representative, retiring after 38 years of service. Michael was a member of the Knights of Columbus, National Sheppard Diesel Club, Thumb Area Old Engine and Tractor Association and former member of the Upper Peninsula Bear Houndsmen Association. He enjoyed snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, gardening, deer and bear hunting and going up north. Michael loved his family and was affectionately known to many as “Popsie.”
Left to cherish Michael’s memory are his three sons, Michael (Ann) Konarski II, Matthew (Barbara) Konarski and Nicholas (Tyree) Konarski; seven grandchildren, Abigail (Dominic) Hayes, Rebecca, Leanna, Benjamin, Jenna, Angelene and Jacob Konarski; brothers, John “Sarge” (Karen) Konarski and Thomas (Lydia) Konarski; sister-in-law Evelyn (Gary) Hoeksema; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Kathryn Konarski in August of 2020; brother, James Konarski; and sister, Maryann Malburg.
The family will receive visitors from 3-8 p.m., Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m.; and 10 a.m. until time of service Friday, June 4, 2021 at Holy Family Parish St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2021 at Holy Family Parish St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 6785 W. Marlette Street, Marlette, MI with Father Stephen Blaxton officiating.
Burial will follow at Siple Cemetery, Marlette, MI.
Those desiring to make a memorial contribution in Michael’s memory may direct them to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
