IMLAY CITY — Volunteers are sought to help spruce up and repair athletic facilities.

On Spartan Community Day, participants will converge on athletic fields to paint and make repairs. The event will take place Saturday, June 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Organizer Jessica Keeping said a group of parents hopes to freshen up the facilities in advance of summer tournaments that will bring in visiting teams.

That day organizers hope to attend to necessary upgrades at the football field, varsity baseball and softball fields, the JV baseball field, tennis courts and the athletic complex on Blacks Corners Rd. They plan to work on fencing, ticket booths, goal posts, scoreboards and other signage, foul poles, dugouts, sheds, and backstops.

Keeping said the school district will be providing all of the supplies and the Imlay City Athletic Boosters will be providing lunch for volunteers who serve at least a four-hour shift.
