ATTICA TWP. — The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office hopes the public can help in their investigation of a shooting incident that took place Tuesday afternoon.

Around 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 26, deputies responded to Lake George Rd. where a resident said that an older tan vehicle traveled past their home numerous times that day before the driver extended his arms out the window and discharged a handgun into the air four or five times. The vehicle then left the scene.

It appeared there were two people in the vehicle, possibly a Ford Crown Victoria.

Another local resident said they heard the gun shots but did not see the vehicle.

A Michigan State Police canine unit, trained in finding spent shells, was called to the scene but the dog was not able to recover evidence.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is requested to contact the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (810) 245-1374.

Michigan State Police troopers assisted deputies on scene.
