Shirley Miller, age 92, of Attica, MI died Sunday, January 3, 2021 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital of Lapeer, MI. Shirley Ann Boomer was born March 21, 1928 in Detroit, MI. She was the daughter of the late Keith and the late Sylvia (Roth) Boomer. Shirley grew up in Dryden, MI. She was a graduate of Dryden High School continuing her education at Port Huron Junior College. She married Serge Miller on February 10, 1951 in Flint, MI. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2000.

She began her career as a legal secretary for the law firm of Preisel and Penzien in Imlay City, MI before becoming a legal secretary for Judge Clayton Preisel at the Lapeer County Probate Court until her retirement. She had also worked for a period of time for Hurd Lock in Almont, MI.

Shirley was a member and sang in the choir at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Imlay City. When her girls were younger, Shirley was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Imlay City Band Boosters. After her husband’s death Shirley began to travel. Her travels took her all over the world, culminating in a family trip to Panama and Costa Rica for her 80th birthday. Shirley was an avid gardener and enjoyed collecting antiques and travel souvenirs.

She is survived by her daughters, Jan (Lou) Betka of Attica, MI and Kim (Bob) Webster of Denver, NC; sister, Verna Henley of St. Augustine, FL; her granddaughter, Meghan (Steve) Boss of Belmont, MI; and her great-grandchildren, Trey, Marley and Carter.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Serge Miller; and her sister, Dorothy Mackie.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
