IMLAY CITY — The Grand Valley State University women’s track team welcomes back Carly Livingston, an Imlay City High School graduate, for her senior season.
She enters the upcoming season coming off an impressive 2019-20 indoor campaign.
It was there Livingston qualified for the NCAA Division 2 National Championships in the pole vault with a PR of 3.95 meters. She also placed third at the Hillsdale Conference Crossover with a clearance of 3.59 meters.
Livingston concluded the season securing USTFCCCA All-Region honors.
She also attained USTFCCCA All-America status and earned GLIAC All-Academic Excellence honors.
Grand Valley State University opens their indoor home meet schedule January 15 at the Bob Eubanks Open. That meet lists a 3 p.m. starting time.
The team is at home six other times. That list includes the Mike Lints Alumni Meet (January 23 at 1 p.m.), Bill Clinger Classic (January 29 at 3 p.m.), GVSU Open (February 6 at 1 p.m.), Big Meet Friday (February 12 at 10 a.m.), Big Meet Saturday (February 13 at 10 a.m.) and GVSU Tuneup (February 19 at 3 p.m.).
The 2021 GLIAC Indoor Championships will take place the weekend of February 27-28 with Saginaw Valley acting as the host. The NCAA Division II National Championships are scheduled for March 12-13 at the Birmingham Complex in Birmingham, Alabama.
Head Coach Jerry Baltes enters his 22nd season at the helm of the program.
A year ago, Baltes led the women to earn the top spot in the final USTFCCCA ranking of the indoor season. Both squads were crowned the 2020 GLIAC Indoor Champions before the season was called off due to COVID-19.
“We are excited for the opportunity to get back on the track and compete and are hopeful that we can host quality meets to give our student athletes the best opportunities to reach their goals,” Baltes said. “Our staff is working hard with visiting teams to ensure we have the safest meets possible with a competitive environment,” he emphasized.
All home meets will be broadcasted on the GVSU Sports Network for a fee.
