David “Dave” Brown, 75, of Imlay City, passed away at home on Thursday, November 26, 2020 surrounded by his family. David Charles Brown was born September 26, 1945 in Almont, MI to Charles LaVerne and Viola (Kaiser) Brown. He was a graduate of Almont High School, Class of 1963. Dave married his wife of 54 years, Darlene VanWagnen, on July 2, 1966.

He started his lifetime career of driving semi-truck/trailers at a very young age for Crowel Trucking, Michigan Milk Producers Association, Jackson Bros, Northwest Propane, CMS Marathon and Theut Products. Dave was a former volunteer member of the Imlay City Fire Department for nearly 20 years. He enjoyed his morning coffee with “The Guys,” ice fishing, hunting, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren and grandpuppy.

Dave is survived by his wife, Darlene Brown; children, Denise (Lee) VanDerPloeg of Attica, MI and Dennis (Cora) Brown of Lapeer, MI; grandchildren, Jacob VanderPloeg and Erika VanderPloeg of Attica, MI, Lana Mathis and Aubrie Mathis of Metamora, MI; and his sister, Beverly Conn of Almont, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Viola Brown; and his brother-in-law, Keith Conn.

A private graveside memorial service was held at Imlay Township Cemetery on Sunday, November 29, 2020.
