LAPEER COUNTY — On Thursday, the Lapeer County Health Department reported three additional COVID-19 deaths since Monday. That means a total of 46 county residents have died from the virus since this spring.

Additionally, 197 new cases were recorded in the last three days as well.

As of Thursday morning, 24 people with confirmed cases were hospitalized locally—eight of whom were in an intensive care unit.

Upon evaluating data from the last seven days, the county’s test positivity rate stands at 16.4 percent.

Since Tuesday, the St. Clair County Health Department said four more residents have died from COVID-19. That brings the county’s total deaths to 73. Currently, the county has more than 1,800 active cases of the virus.
