He later married Kathy Spear on November 12, 1988 and they spent almost 32 wonderful years together.

He has substituted for many pastors over the years in terms of preaching the gospel and funeral services, and is presently licensed by the First Congregational Church in Almont to conduct church services in jail or state prisons. He and a friend conducted a weekly Bible Study on Wednesday nights at the Lapeer County jail for eleven years. In 2002 he compiled a religious tract entitled “Are you on your way to Heaven?” and wrote a three-page article on, “Understanding the Trinity.” George worked at the Lapeer Intermediate Schools for fifteen years as a school Social Worker until laid off in 1986. He was then hired by the Lapeer County Community Health Center and became the first supported employment coordinator. George and Kathy always extended a warm welcome to family and friends to stop by and visit their home.
