Carlos Almendarez, Jr., 62, of Imlay City MI died Friday, November 6, 2020 at home in Imlay City. Carlos Almendarez, Jr. was born July 11, 1958 in McAllen, TX. He was the son of the late Carlos and the late Juvencia “Paula” (Palacios) Almendarez, Sr. Carlos grew up in the Imlay City area. He was a graduate of Imlay City High School, Class of 1977.
He was employed by General Motors Truck & Bus Assembly Plant in Flint. He was a Team Leader for the Motor Line. Carlos worked at General Motors for 35 years. Before going to work at General Motors, he had worked for Howell Industries in Lapeer and the General Telephone and Electric office in Imlay City. Carlos enjoyed going on day trips; driving over to Port Huron to take photographs of the scenery up and down the Lake Huron coastline.
Carlos is survived by three daughters, Diane Almendarez of Auburn Hills, MI, Jennette Almendarez of Lapeer, MI and Anita Almendarez of Belleville, MI; and his son, Stephen Almendarez of Davison, MI. Also surviving are his sister, Connie (Stephen) Van Norman of Romulus, MI and a niece, Taylor Van Norman.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 700 Maple Vista, Imlay City, MI. Reverend Father Noel Cornelio will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Imlay City.
The family will be available for visitation from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 700 Maple Vista, Imlay City, MI.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
Due to recent health concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing (six feet apart), masks (to be worn at all times), and limited occupation of the funeral home and the church will be enforced.
