Lewis Jager, 88, of Imlay City, died Monday, October 26, 2020 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital. Lewis Raymond Jager was born October 31, 1931 in McBain, MI. He was the son of the late Fred and the late Dorothy (Dekema) Jager. He married Jean Hoeksema on July 31, 1951 In Imlay City, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, in 2002.

Lewis grew up in the Imlay City area. He was a lifelong resident of Imlay City. Lewis was a farmer. A partner at Hoeksema – Jager Vegetable Farms in Imlay City with his brother-in-law, sons and nephews. He was also a machinist at a few local shops. Lewis was a member of the Imlay City Christian Reformed Church. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed hunting (especially deer hunting).

Lewis is survived by his daughter, Valerie (John) Wuori of Sturgis, MI; sons, Randy (Lori) Jager of Imlay City, MI and Brian (Linda) Jager of Midland, MI; son-in-law, Dan Godo of Knoxville, TN; one brother, Don (Ozzie) Jager of Grand Rapids, MI; a brother-in-law, Bob Hatfield of Cucamonga, CA. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; a daughter, Sally Godo; his parents, Fred and Dorothy; four brothers; and four sisters.

The family will be available from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the Imlay City Christian Reformed Church, 395 N. Cedar Street, Imlay City for public visiting. Friends may pass into Main (South) Entrance to the Narthex to pay respects, then exit out of West Entrance to their cars.

Due to recent health concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing (six feet apart), masks (to be worn at all times), and limited occupation (20 people at a time) of the church will be enforced.

Reverend Alex Snider, pastor of the Imlay City Christian Reformed Church, will officiate over a private family prayer service that will take place at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the Imlay City Christian Reformed Church. Then, there will be a procession to Imlay Township Cemetery for a 1 p.m. Wednesday public Graveside Service at Imlay Township Cemetery, 682 N. Fairgrounds Rd., Imlay City, MI.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions may direct them to the Imlay City Christian School.
