TRI-CITY AREA — Coronavirus case numbers have experienced a steep rise in the past week.
Lapeer County has recorded 42 new cases between October 6-12 and St. Clair County is reporting 94 during that same time period.
Five additional COVID-19 deaths have also been reported in that one week’s time—two for Lapeer and three in St. Clair.
The week prior, Lapeer County had 25 new cases and St. Clair County had 63.
As of Monday, October 12, Lapeer County had a total of 592 confirmed cases, 117 probable and 442 recoveries. Their virus death figure now stands at 37.
St. Clair County has a total of 1,175 cases, 959 recoveries and 60 deaths.
The county’s health department is currently monitoring 156 active COVID-19 cases among residents.
