John William Tamba Sr., 74, of Lynn Township, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020, at McLaren Port Huron Hospital.

He was born September 22, 1946, in Capac, the son of the late Constantin and Ruth B. (Lyle) Tamba.

His marriage to Brookie Gail Maynard was February 17, 1969, in Romeo.

John was a graduate of Capac High School where he was a member of the F.F.A. He was a 4-H leader teaching skills in small engine repair and softball. John was a member of the U.A.W. He previously worked as a mechanic for Ray’s Gulf Station in Capac before working at Everlock in Detroit for 18 years. He was a custodian at Capac Community Schools from 1992-2010. John loved to mow and work in his yard, cutting wood, and tending to his vegetable garden. He enjoyed deer hunting and coaching for Capac Little League Baseball.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Gail, of 51 years; are two daughters, Pamela Gail Kavka of Lynn Township and Tracey Mae (Patrick) Kinney of Armada; two sons, John William Jr. (Christine) of Lynn Township and William Charles of Sandusky; two grandsons, Andrew John Kavka of Yale and Jack William Kinney of Armada; sisters, Linda Volmering, Connie Hiller and LuAnn McIntire; brother, James Tamba and nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Robert Tamba.

The family honors the memory of John and invites you to visit and share memories Wednesday, October 14, 2020, from 2-8 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Capac.

Funeral services will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Capac, at 11 a.m. Thursday with 10 a.m. visiting. Rev. Charlie Martin, minister of St. John’s Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lynn Township Cemetery, Lynn Township.
