ALMONT — The Almont girls’ golf team registered a fourth-place finish last Wednesday at a Division 4 regional.
Washtenaw Golf
Club, in Ypsilanti, is where the tournament was contested.
Royal Oak Shrine (395), Wixom St. Catherine of Siena Academy and Ann Arbor Greenhills (411) occupied the top-three finish positions at day’s end.
With their performances, those three schools move on to this Saturday’s Division 3 state finals at Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing.
Almont (423), Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest (432), Flat Rock (470), Richmond (519) and Clawson held down spots four through eight.
Petersburg Summerfield and St. Mary Catholic Central also competed but did not field complete squads.
Brandi Kautz led Almont at the regional level. Her 18-hole output of 86 paid off with first medalist honors.
Jesse Hellebuyck supplied the next best Almont score, posting a 94. Hellebuyck’s effort paved the way to fifth medalist recognition.
Both Kautz and Hellebuyck advance to the upcoming state finals as their respective outputs were among the three-best totals among non-qualifying teams.
Hannah Revoldt and Emily Henige rounded out Almont’s top-four that day. Revoldt shot a 102 and Henige carded a 141.
