Clarence Chaney, 87, of Imlay City, MI died Sunday, September 27, 2020 at his home. Clarence Allen Chaney was born August 23, 1933 in Benton, IL. He was the son of the late John and the late Myrtle (Beltz) Chaney. Clarence grew up in Benton, IL. He was a graduate of Benton High School. After high school, Clarence enlisted and proudly served in the Navy from 1951 – 1954 during the Korean War. After the service, he moved to Pontiac, MI. That is where he met Donna May Brown. They were married on June 22, 1955. Clarence and Donna moved to the Imlay City area in 1970 and have lived here since. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna.

He was employed as a toolmaker for General Motors in Pontiac for 20 years before retiring in the late 1980s. Clarence worked for ITT Higby in Rochester for a short time.

Clarence enjoyed unique clocks, repairing clocks, and antique radios. He liked to go for a daily coffee at McDonald’s and at Rankin’s Bakery.

He is survived by his daughters, Pamela (Marco Martinez) Chaney of Imlay City and Alice “Lacey” (Tom) Blossom of Lapeer; his son, Kerry (Barbara) Allen Chaney of Lapeer; thirteen grandchildren, William Kamicko, Amy (Tim) Sheridan, Justin Rodriguez, Nicholas Rodriguez, Daniel Blight, Laura (Josh) Crosby, Amanda Martinez, Jamie Martinez, Austin Martinez, Brandi Quintana, Jacob Bunt, Cathy Blossom, and Derek Blossom; and several great-grandchildren.

Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Chaney; his sons, John Henry Chaney and Richard Scott Chaney; his grandson, David Allen Chaney; and his siblings, Carl, Paul, Harold, Alice and Johnie Mae.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, October 2, 2020 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Pastor Tom Blount will officiate. Interment follow at Burnside Township Cemetery in Brown City, MI.

A Veteran’s Salute will take place at 7:15 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the funeral home.

The family will be available for visitation 6-8 p.m., Thursday, October 1 and 11-1 p.m., Friday, October 2 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City.
