William Podeski, 76, of Attica passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020 surrounded by his family at home. He was born September 12, 1944 in Harbor Beach, the son of Roman and Minnie (Goniewicha) Podeski. William worked at the Ford Sterling Axle Plant as a weld fixture repairman, retiring after 36 years.

William was a man who found joy in everything. You could find him outdoors enjoying snowmobiling and fishing. Growing up on a farm gave him a love for horses. He even raised some horses of his own later in life along side his children, Tammy Lea Nichols of Davison, William Podeski Jr. of Attica, Angelique (Michael) Howe of Almont and DonaLee (Bryan) Zender of Almont. William is the grandfather of Anthony (Lea) Puff, Michael (Dennis) Ross, William J. Podeski III, Ninna Nicole Podeski, Jillian Marie Podeski, Tayler Renee Podeski, Timmothy Shutter Jr., Brandon Shutter, Joshua Zender and Rachel Zender; and the great grandfather of Liam, Landon, Alex and Auron David.

Although his hobbies and family kept him busy, he still found time to be active in his community, belonging to many organizations rooted in helping others. He was a member of VFW #2492 of Imlay City, #4139 of Lapeer and Houghton Lake #4034. Also a member of American Legion #16 of Lapeer, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4082 of Imlay City and #2427 of Lapeer; the Moose Lodge #2433. William was also a member of Lodge #51 F. & A. M. of Almont. You could even find William organizing card games at the Lapeer Senior Center where he was president of the Senior Committee for 3 years. His favorite game to play was euchre.

William is survived by his brother, Ed Larkowski of Minden City and preceded in death by his brothers, Walt Goniewicha, Roman Podeski, James Podeski; and sisters, Dolores Raymond and Nancy Gilleo.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 2-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Muir Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center in Imlay City, MI. Burial to be made at Christian Memorial in Rochester, MI.

Donations can be made in William’s name to the Lapeer Senior Center, 287 W. Nepessing St., Lapeer, MI.
