TRI-CITY AREA — For the first time in several weeks, both Lapeer and St. Clair county’s new COVID-19 case counts are in the single digits.

As of Monday, Sept. 14, the Lapeer County Health Department reported just nine new cases in one week’s time.

An additional death has been added to Lapeer County’s total, bringing that number to 36. The death reportedly occurred in May but local health officials were not immediately notified, they said.

As of the 14th, Lapeer County had a total of 483 confirmed cases, 89 probable and 372 considered recovered.

In St. Clair County, only eight new cases had been recorded in one week’s time as of Sept. 14. An additional 32 residents had recovered from the virus in that same amount of time. As of the 14th the health department reported 35 active cases.

The number of deaths remains unchanged at 53.
