CAPAC — When the long-awaited start to the 2020 gridiron season begins in a couple days from now there will be one varsity Tri-City team absent from the list of schools participating. That is because Capac has decided not to field a squad this fall.
That decision was announced this past week.
“As a group, the administration, coaching staff and players made the tough decision to not have a varsity football team this year,” Capac Athletic Director Ryan Murphy stated. “We will still have a junior varsity team playing 8-man football this fall,” he noted.
“This is where we will be focusing our efforts.”
Capac Coach Rob Novy said he would have liked to have had a varsity season, but circumstances did not allow for that.
“I am disappointed that we will not be playing varsity football this fall,” Novy said. “Very excited that we still get to play junior varsity football,” he noted.
“Looking forward to 2021 season where we can resume playing at the varsity level again.”
