LAPEER COUNTY — A Saginaw man has been arrested for his role in the theft of multiple firearms from a Burnside Township business.
Darious Danyel White has been arrested and a federal criminal complaint has been filed.
Lapeer County Sheriff deputies responded to Bowman’s Outdoors on Friday, August 14 in response to a break-in alarm. They discovered that the building had been entered and more than two dozen guns has been taken.
Investigators were able to collect footwear impressions, tire tread impressions, DNA evidence and reviewed security camera footage that showed three suspects flee the scene.
“Through evidence recovered at the scene, deputies were able to identify the vehicle used in the crime and locate it in Saginaw,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
“Deputies contacted members of the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) and worked in conjunction with them in the execution of a search warrant in Saginaw.”
While executing that search warrant, law enforcement officers discovered 22 firearms stolen from Bowman’s Outdoors, along with an additional gun that had been stolen months earlier from Ben’s Supermarket in Marlette.
The case remains under active investigation by the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office and ATF.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Robert Wells at 810-656-1016.
