Frank Eugene Ebner, 74, of Allenton, MI, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2020 at home. Frank (Gene) was born in Croswell, MI on February 10, 1946 to Frank and Lillian (Decker) Ebner. He grew up on the family farm there and graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School in 1965 while also working at Ford Motor Company Sterling Axle Plant and Pioneer Sugar Company in Croswell his senior year. He joined the Marine Corps November 9, 1965. He served three years in the Vietnam War, was wounded in action, spent three months in the hospital, and earned the Purple Heart Medal and many other awards. He was honorably discharged October 29, 1968. After coming home, he returned to Ford Motor Company.
Gene met his future bride, Mary Lou (Biskey) Ebner, as best man in his cousin Tom Ebner’s wedding to Susan (Felker) Ebner. They raised their family in Almont for 12 years, then moved to the country in Allenton area, where they have lived ever since. His service to his country was included as part of his eventual 30 years at Ford Axle Plant, allowing him to retire June 30, 1995 at age 49. Gene has always loved hunting and fishing. He was a hardworking, kind and generous man, loved by many. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; as well as his two children, Kevin (Jody) Ebner of Attica and Jamie (Stacie) Ebner of Ypsilanti, recently of Marlette; grandchildren, Travis Dupont, Jaxon Ebner, Danielle (Graham) Parker and Ashley Stauffer; and great-granddaughter Juniper Parker. Gene is also survived by his beloved brother, Gary (Janet) Ebner of Croswell, MI; sister, Linda (Clare) Travis, also of Croswell; Mary’s nine Biskey siblings and their spouses; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Catholic celebration of life will take place Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 1 p.m. at the Ebner home in Allenton with Rev. Michael Gawlowski officiating.
