LAPEER COUNTY — A resident in their 40s has died from COVID-19.

The Lapeer County Health Department made the announcement on Thursday, August 6. Officials also reported the addition of 38 new positive cases since Monday. Health Department Director Kathy Haskins notes there have been 53 new cases in one week’s time.

“While 26 of the 53 are the result of additional testing of migrant farm workers, the rest are from the general public, and range in age from 7 years to 79 years,” she said.

That puts Lapeer County’s COVID-19 death total at 32 with 382 confirmed cases.

St. Clair County has a total of 797 cases and 53 deaths. As of Thursday, they reported 96 active cases.
