Patrick J. Ohlert, 67, of Almont, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Troy Beaumont Hospital. He was born October 4, 1952 in Detroit, the son of Lambert and Betty (Nedbery) Ohlert. He served with the U.S. Army Reserves in Warren and married Tillie Bigham on June 16, 1973. He worked as a pipefitter for Chrysler and General Motors, retiring from General Motors as Supervisor of Skilled Trades. Following his retirement, he worked at Vinckiers and Almont Schools to stay busy. Pat was a faithful member of the Almont Lions Club for over 24 years. He served as vice-president and secretary for many years and was currently the club president. He was very instrumental in leading the club to sponsor a LEO club for area youth in the 12-18 age group. He provided his tractor and wagon for events like Spooky Time Bash and the annual Holiday Lights Parade for the Lions float. He was the recipient of the Lions distinguished Melvin Jones Fellowship which is presented to members who have made significant contributions to humanitarian projects locally, statewide and internationally. He was to have received the Jim Cronin award from the Lions of District 11-D2 at the district convention, which had to be canceled due to COVID-19. He was always concerned about ways to serve the Almont and Dryden communities.
Pat enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening, classic cars and backyard barbeques with friends and family. Foremost, Pat loved his family and adored his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Tilly; his children, Jennifer Ohlert of Lexington, SC, Jason (Elisa) Ohlert of Washington; and grandchildren, Alyssa Soave, Alexis Soave and Alec Ohlert. Also surviving are siblings, Bob Ohlert Jim Ohlert, Mike Ohlert and Bonnie Bowman; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Julie Kiligan.
Memorials may be made to the Almont Lions Club.
Cremation was entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Almont.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life later this summer.
