Gail Bissett, 64, of Imlay City, MI died Monday, June 22, 2020 at Ascension Providence Rochester (formerly Crittenton Hospital) of Rochester Hills, MI. Gail Louise Stern was born March 1, 1956. She was the daughter of the late Elmore and the late Florence (Schmaltz) Stern. Gail grew up and has lived in Imlay City all her life. She was a graduate of Imlay City High School, Class of 1974. She married Donald Raymond Bissett on August 10, 1974 in Capac, MI.
She was a self-employed professional seamstress. Gail made many different styles and types of clothes: christening gowns, prom gowns, wedding gowns; and performed clothing repairs.
Through the years Gail was a 4-H leader, Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout leader, and a catechism teacher at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City, MI. She worked as a kitchen cook for Imlay City Community Schools.
Gail made hundreds of different quilts and 450 masks. She absolutely adored her grandbabies.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Bissett; her daughters, Jennifer (Mark) Lysakowsky of St. Clair Shores, MI and Julie Hannah Bissett of Imlay City; her sons, Jason (Julie) Bissett of Davison, MI, Jonathan (Nicole) Bissett of Davison, MI and Joshua (Kristi) Bissett of Shelby, NC; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Emily, Maddox, Alex, Avarry, Logan, Nikolai, Brynna and Talulah; and her mother-in-law, Anna Elizabeth Bissett of New Baltimore, MI.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Elmore and Florence Stern; three brothers, Glenn Stern, Gerald Stern and Randy Stern; her brother-in-law, Rowland Bissett, Jr.; and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Bissett.
The funeral was held Friday, June 26, 2020 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 6645 Washington Street, North Branch, MI. Reverend Fr. Richard Treml officiated. Interment followed at Goodland Township Cemetery.
A Rosary was held Thursday at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI.
