Robert Rider, 88, of Attica, MI, died Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at McLaren Flint Region Medical Center of Flint, MI. Robert George Rider was born July 8, 1931 in Imlay City, MI. He was the son of the late Robert and the late Marguerite (Huntley) Rider. Robert grew up and lived his entire life in the Imlay City area. He attended school at Imlay City and Dryden Schools. Robert married Dorothy Raetz. He was employed as a boiler operator by General Motors-Fischer Body in the powerhouse for 34-plus years before retiring. Robert attended the Imlay City Church of the Nazarene. He was a member of the Almont/Dryden F & AM Masonic Lodge and the Imlay City High School Alumni Association. Robert enjoyed his family, gardening, going on bus trips, and his church family.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Rider; his daughters, Peggy (Tom) Shagena of Pensacola, FL and Jamie (Damon) Meredith of Canyon Lake, TX; his son, Robb (Colleen) Rider of Imlay City, MI; seven grandchildren; and his five great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marguerite Rider; and his daughters, Karen Rider and Patricia Thompson.
Robert will be buried beside his daughter Karen at Imlay Township Cemetery, 682 N. Fairgrounds Rd., Imlay City, MI.
There are no services at this time.
