Thank you Lapeer County for showing up on Breonna Taylor’s birthday at two events held Friday, June 5 in Lapeer in support of victims of racism and police brutality.
Thank you to the deAngeli Library for use of their beautiful grounds; also to the volunteers who showed up with water, pizza and even live music.
Thank you to speakers Jerry Tkach, who’s running for the 82nd District State House seat; to Desiree Duell, Flint artist/activist/real estate agent; Kimberly Bizon, candidate for the 10th Congressional District seat and Lapeer Police Chief David Frisch.
And a big thank you to the 200 or so residents attending each event, all who seem intent on moving beyond repetitive tragedies.
We’re excited to think we can have reasonably safe gatherings during a pandemic to figure out how to dismantle hate and fear.
Our own thinking in that direction is toward education and voter registration at another interesting, informative event as soon as possible.
