I write to congratulate Imlay City High School senior Adam Dodge on being the recipient of the 2020 Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce scholarship. Although the scholarship officially is presented by the Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce, the scholarship was made possible by all of the Buskers who performed at the 2019 Michigan Busker Fest in Imlay City. On the last night of the Busker Fest, June 15, 2019, all of the Buskers performed together for one huge show to cap off the festival. The Buskers donated all of their tips that evening to create this scholarship. The efforts of the Buskers a year ago are even more significant now as the Board of Directors of the Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce has reluctantly canceled the Busker Fest for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Buskers are street performers who perform before crowds to present their talents in juggling, fire eating, dancing, acrobatics, magic, singing and any number of other types of performances, all while telling jokes to keep everyone entertained. The Buskers who perform at the Michigan Busker Fest in Imlay City come from all over the United States and Canada.
The Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce was tasked with finding the graduating senior who best personified a student who has an interest in the performing arts. We were impressed with Adam’s music performance background and thought he would be the perfect candidate for this scholarship.
Congratulations to Adam Dodge for winning this scholarship. The Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce and the 2019 Buskers from the Michigan Busker Fest wish you all the best for your very bright future!
