As a member of the Lapeer County Bar Association Scholarship committee, I am proud to announce that the recipient of our fifteenth annual scholarship, in the amount of $2,000, is Cassidy Sparks. She is a Lapeer High School graduating senior who will utilize the scholarship to assist her in attending Oakland University in pursuit of a law-related career. Selection criteria included academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community involvement, including either volunteer or work experience, and financial need. All applications were reviewed by the Lapeer County Bar Association Scholarship Committee members David Campbell, Colleen Starr, Christine Strasser and Kayleen Hendler.
Our other extremely qualified candidates included Kenny Lowe from Lapeer High School, Whitney Pettibone from North Branch High School and Paige Ruhlig from Almont High School. All were interviewed by the committee via Zoom. The committee congratulates them all on their stellar high school qualifications and performance during the interviews and wishes them nothing but the best in their college careers and future endeavors.
Congratulations again to Cassidy Sparks. We also appreciated all the high school administrators, instructors, advisors and counselors who consistently assist in making the scholarship program a success especially during this pandemic.
