Vera Marjorie Bolday, 89, of Emmett, joined her beloved husband in heaven on April 22, 2020.
She was born August 16, 1930 in Tyre, MI, the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Stepka) Guigar.
Vera first fell in love with Sylvester Bolday on June 25, 1949. They were wed on May 2, 1953, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Argyle, MI. Together along with God they created a loving home where they were blessed with seven children.
Vera’s love of God was exhibited in everything she did. Anytime she or anyone left the family farm she would always say a prayer to ensure safety. Vera was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett. Her love of cooking and baking was shared with everyone who sat at the kitchen table. No one ever left that table hungry. She would rather go without herself than let someone go hungry.
Surviving are three sons, James, Patrick (Lynn) and Edward, all of Emmett; four daughters, Joanne Stewart of Imlay City, Theresa (David) Scheuermann of Pleasant Ridge, Veronica (James) Stanley of Capac and Mary (Rick) Ruemenapp of Fair Haven; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sylvester; son-in-law, John Stewart; her brothers, Leo, Ernie, Raymond and Leonard; and her sisters, Martha, Lorraine, Virginia, Beatrice, Celestine, and Kathleen.
The family would like to share the wisdom and belief of their mother, Vera, “Visit people while they are alive, don’t wait until they are gone.” Therefore, please use any donations you would use for a memorial to enjoy a meal with a loved one, a special neighbor or even help a stranger. Spread love, faith and hope in these troubling times and may God bless all of you.
A private family graveside service will take place at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel– Kenockee Cemetery, Kenockee Township.
