The Board of Directors of the Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce met virtually on Monday night and, with great regret, decided we needed to temporarily lay off our Executive Director, Shannon Hamel.
With almost all of our local businesses being closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Shannon does not have a great deal to do right now. Also, we need to conserve our financial resources so we can come back strong when our businesses begin re-opening. This layoff is only temporary and we will bring her back to work just as soon as we can.
In the meantime, the Chamber is still functioning remotely and is able to help our members and the community in any way possible. The Board of Directors, as well as other volunteers, will still be answering phone calls, returning emails and checking the mail. Please contact us at 810-542-3256 or executivedirector@imlaycitymich.com.
At that meeting, the Board also decided, with deep regret, that we needed to postpone the 2020 Busker Fest to a date to be determined. We had previously postponed the Chamber Auction due to the virus to a future unknown date. We are hoping that conditions will improve so we can still have our Auction and Busker Fest in 2020.
The Imlay City area is an amazing place with wonderful people and businesses. As this area has shown many times in the past, we are up to the challenge so long as we face it together.
Respectfully,
—The Board of Directors of the Imlay City Area of Commerce
