Mary Ann Johnston, 81, of Attica, MI died Monday, March 30, 2020 at home in Attica. Mary Ann Elizabeth Johnston was born June 20, 1938 in Mt. Clemens, MI. She was the daughter of the late William and the late Mary Elizabeth (Ruffner) Fierst. She grew up in the Mt. Clemens area and was a graduate of Mt. Clemens High School, Class of 1956. She married Vincent “Vince” Johnston on August 18, 1956 in Mt. Clemens, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vince, on May 24, 2017.
Mary Ann worked as a Ward Clerk, a Unit Secretary, and a Patient Registration Clerk for St. Joseph Mercy Hospitals (East and West) and at St. Joseph’s Women’s Center in the Mt. Clemens and Clinton Township areas.
Mary Ann and Vince lived in the Mt. Clemens area up until about five years ago, when they moved out to the Attica area to be closer to their children. When they lived in Mt. Clemens, Mary Ann and Vince would attend St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Mary Ann loved to dance with her husband Vince.
She is survived by daughters, Cheryl (Jerome) Soulliere of Attica and Carol (Steve) Veryser, Sr. of Attica; her son, Vincent (Kristina) Johnston, Jr. of West Ossipee, NH; a brother, William (Lynn) Fierst of Harrison Twp., MI; and a sister-in-law, Theresa Johnston of St. Louis, MO. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Sarah, David, Felicia, Denise, Amanda, Cassy, Steve Jr., Michael; and ten great-grandchildren.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Johnston, Sr.; her sons, Robert Johnston and Michael Johnston; grandson, Jeremy Johnston; and a sister, Margaret “Peggy” Fierst.
A summertime celebration of life is being planned.
