TRI-CITY AREA — From the opening game until the last, these competitors made a name for themselves with their outstanding play out on the court.
Here is a look at who made the 2019-20 edition of The Tri-City Times All-Area girls’ basketball lineup and the numbers they generated en route to those accolades.
Hannah Peyerk, Dryden.
Peyerk netted 304 points in 21 games, an average of 14.5 points per contest, this winter.
That placed her first on the Dryden squad and among those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.
The 5-7 senior forward also pulled down 65 rebounds, handed off 56 assists and contributed 17 steals.
Peyerk wrapped up her fourth season at the varsity level as an All-North Central Thumb League Stars Division first team selection.
Mary Lengemann, Imlay City.
Lengemann generated 320 points over 24 contests, an average of 13.3 points per game, during the 2019-20 campaign.
That ranked her first on the Imlay City squad and second among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.
The 5-10 sophomore guard also grabbed 130 rebounds, supplied 64 steals and handed off 43 assists.
It was her second year on Imlay City’s varsity.
She ended the season as an All-Blue Water Area Conference first team choice.
Brandi Kautz, Almont.
Kautz amassed 186 points in 21 games, an average of 8.9 points per contest, this winter.
That placed her first on the Almont squad and third among those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.
The 5-4 junior guard also pulled down 98 rebounds, registered 59 steals and handed off 54 assists.
Kautz completed her second season at the varsity level as an All-Blue Water Area Conference second team pick.
Grace Johnson, Almont.
Johnson managed 181 points over 21 contests, an average of 8.6 points per game, during the 2019-20 campaign.
That ranked her second on the Almont squad and fourth among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.
The 5-4 sophomore guard also registered 79 steals, handed off 53 assists and grabbed 49 rebounds.
It was her second year on Almont’s varsity.
Johnson wrapped up the season as an All-Blue Water Area Conference second team selection.
Natalie Maday, Capac.
Maday amassed 176 points in 21 games, an average of 8.4 points per contest, this winter.
That placed her first on the Capac squad and fifth among those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.
The 6-0 senior center also pulled down 207 rebounds, blocked 45 shots, registered 33 steals and handed off 19 assists.
She finished her fourth and final season playing at the varsity level as an All-Greater Thumb Conference East second team choice.
Kayla Rossen, Imlay City.
Rossen supplied 168 points in 24 games, an average of 7.0 points per contest, this winter.
That ranked her
second on the Imlay City squad and sixth among Tri-City Times All-Area first team
honorees.
The 5-9 junior forward also pulled down 191 rebounds, provided 73 steals, blocked 36 shots and handed off 30 assists.
Rossen wrapped up her second season at the varsity level as an All-Blue Water Area Conference honorable mention pick.
Abigail Thibodeau, Imlay City.
Thibodeau furnished 163 points over 24 contests, an average of 6.8 points per game, during the 2019-20 campaign.
That ranked her third on the Imlay City squad and seventh among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.
The 5-5 junior guard also grabbed 59 rebounds, amassed 62 steals and handed off 28 assists.
Thibodeau concluded her third season at the varsity level as a member of the BWAC’s All-Defensive team.
Ella Kage, Dryden.
Kage provided 132 points over 21 contests, an average of 6.3 points per game, during the 2019-20 campaign.
That ranked her second on the Dryden squad and eighth among Tri-City Times All-Area first team honorees.
The 5-2 junior guard also registered 109 steals, handed off 90 assists and grabbed 49 rebounds.
She concluded her third season at the varsity level as an All-North Central Thumb League Stars Division second team selection.
Jaya Forti, Imlay City.
Forti provided 92 points in 22 games, an average of 4.2 points per contest, this winter.
That placed her seventh on the Imlay City squad and ninth among those who attained Tri-City Times All-Area first team status.
The 5-5 sophomore guard also contributed 86 steals, pulled down 42 rebounds and handed off 23 assists.
Forti finished her first season at the varsity level as an All-Blue Water Area Conference honorable mention choice.
Second team- Hannah Revoldt, Almont; Jona Mullin, Capac; Kylie DeVlaminck, Dryden; Kendall Roszczewski, Almont; Delayna Osko, Imlay City; and Izzy Aune, Imlay City.
Honorable mention- Ana Lengemann, Imlay City; Jesse Hellebuyck, Almont; Riley Knox, Dryden; and Skylar Schocke, Capac.
Coach of the Year- For directing Imlay City to a 21-3 overall mark, a Division 2 regional title appearance, a district championship and a pacesetting 12-2 Blue Water Area Conference mark, Heather Lauwers earns Tri-City Times All-Area Coach of the Year accolades.
