Nathan Byron Montney, 55, of Capac, passed away peacefully Thursday night, March 19, 2020 at home surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born August 31, 1964 in Deckerville, MI to James Byron Montney and the late Mary Caroline (Abend) Montney.

He was a 1982 graduate of Capac High School. After graduation he went to Motech to become a mechanic; specifically a transmission mechanic. On November 7, 1987, he married Deanna Helen Sampson at Zion United Methodist Church of Capac. Nathan was a certified Master Mechanic for 30-plus years working at several dealerships. He enjoyed being outdoors and on his feet, whether he was in the woods, around the yard or busy with activities that he loved. Some of these included splitting wood for himself and others, mowing the yard, assisting his friends on the farm and fixing anything that he could help with. He also enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races with family, golfing and taking rides around the neighborhood on his four wheeler. He never did anything halfway; he put his full effort into everything that he did and people always knew that they could go to Nate with anything that needed to be done.

Nathan is survived by his wife of 32 years, Deanna; son, Alexander Byron (Alicia) of Macomb; daughter, Olivia Montney of Capac; father, James of Capac; brothers Russell (Dawn), Christopher, Joseph (Kelly) and Jason (Stephanie); nephews, Zachary, Remington, Joseph and Garrett; nieces, Molly, Caroline and Madison; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; father-in-law, Douglas Sampson; and nephew, Jacob Montney.

A private funeral service was held Tuesday, March 24. Rev. Lisa Clark, pastor of Capac United Methodist Church officiated.

Memorials are suggested to “Wishes of the Family.”
