Garret Shevnock, age 21, of Attica, MI died Friday, March 20, 2020 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital of Lapeer, MI. Garret Arthur Shevnock was born December 7, 1998 in Troy, MI. He was the son of Scott Patrick Shevnock and Vanessa Renee (Kanaziz) Shevnock Smith. Garret was a graduate of the Imlay City High School, Class of 2018. In high school, he participated in basketball, football, track and wrestling.
Garret was working as an injection molding operator at Val-Tech industries in Imlay City for the last year. He had been an assistant wrestling coach at North Branch High School last year and was an assistant wrestling coach at Imlay City High School the year before.
Garret enjoyed fishing and hunting. Garret chose to be an organ donor.
Garret is survived by his father, Scott and Laura Shevnock of Attica; his mother, Vanessa and Mike Smith of Metamora; his sister, Megan Shevnock; and five brothers, Scott Shevnock, Christopher Smith, Michael Smith, Jr., Ian Smith and Nathan Smith. He is also survived by his grandparents, Gary and Cathy Shevnock of Metamora, MI, Art and Renea Kanaziz of Grain Valley, MO, Cynthia Hayward of Delton, MI; and great-grandfather, Arthur Kanaziz of Imlay City, MI.
Garret was preceded in death by his great-grandparents: Barbara Kanaziz, Charles Shevnock, John and Ann Scherrens, Ted and Marie Jones, and Lorraine and Bill Marks.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date (when the current health issues of the coronavirus are under control) and families and friends will be allowed to gather together.
