ALMONT — Almont absorbed a 46-37 loss to host Armada in a Division 2 boys’ district basketball opening round confrontation Monday night.
With the outcome, Almont watches a 13-7 season reach an endpoint.
In Monday’s confrontation, Almont jumped out to an 11-6 advantage after one quarter was over with.
Almont followed it up with a 14-5 second quarter edge, increasing their cushion to 25-11 at the halftime break.
When the action resumed, Armada bounced back with a 12-2 third quarter advantage. That closed the gap to 27-23 with 24 minutes gone.
Armada then outscored Almont 23-10 the rest of the way, pulling out a 46-37 victory.
Gabe Bourdeau led Almont that evening. Bourdeau hit for 18 points, draining six triples along the way.
Almont had five others reach the scoring column. Their ranks consisted of Joey Savel (eight points, including two trifectas), Brett Wrobel (five) plus Blake Campbell, Jacob Rayl and Colby Schapman (two each).
